Established in October 1993 NUAZ facilitates healthcare and support for international clients in New Zealand. We promote New Zealand as a preferred destination for healthcare and recovery.
Clients include: People of American Samoa - LBJ Tropical Medical Centre referrals, various Fishing Fleets of the North and South Pacific including clients of various Marine Insurance organisations, Seven Corners Insurance, Individual Clients choosing to travel to NZ for treatment from USA, Canada, Philippines and more.
NUAZ facilitates Travel, Accommodation, Specialist Consultation, Private Hospital and where appropriate Public Hospital, and Recovery Arrangements. At all times NUAZ tailors its service to meet the specific needs of its clients.

New Zealand Immigration
All visitors who travel to New Zealand for healthcare and who are not New Zealand Citizens or New Zealand Residents require a Visitors Visa and need to complete the Details of Medical Treatment documentation.

NZ Immigration website
It is necessary to have proof that funding is available for medical care and living expenses prior to the client arriving in New Zealand.
NUAZ will provide a cover letter to NZ Immigration advising that NUAZ clients have funding, medical appointments and accommodation confirmed where clients have been accepted by NUAZ and Medical Specialists for treatment in NZ.
Confidentiality of Client Information
New Zealand has legislated a Privacy Act to protect the privacy of individuals. NUAZ requests clients sign a consent form, enabling NUAZ access to medical records for the specific purpose of passing this information on to referring and treating Medical Practitioners/Hospital.
Billing and Payments
NUAZ Responsibilities
NUAZ is responsible for making payments for and on behalf of clients, leaving the client free to be completely cared for, without the added stress of administrative hassles.
In all cases NUAZ will provide an estimate of costs based on the referral notes provided by the client’s medical practitioner. Where additional treatment or diagnostic tests are required, estimates will be provided to the client for approval, prior to treatment going ahead.
NUAZ requires proof of and/or forward funding before clients leave their own country. NUAZ holds funds on behalf of the client in a NUAZ Client account. This is important:-
A signed contract is required between the client and NUAZ, prior to the transfer of funds and confirmation of health care and associated support services.
All estimates and payments are in NZ$ currency.
Individual ClientResponsibilities
NUAZ requests that the estimated amount for total client care is transferred into a New Zealand NUAZ Client Account prior to the client arriving in New Zealand. If the estimated amount is in excess of expenditure a refund will be provided to the client on closure of the client’s account (usually within 4-6 weeks following the clients departure from New Zealand).
The client will receive an itemised statement on closure of the account.
Referring Organisation and/or Governing Body
NUAZ will establish a New Zealand bank account for and on behalf of organisations such as a hospital or government who wish to refer clients to New Zealand for healthcare. The organisation may then provide funds direct to this bank account for NUAZ to access to meet the costs of client care. Each organisation will have access to view their bank account
On closure of each individuals account, an itemised statement will be provided to the organising body.
Health Support and Education
A number of organisations in New Zealand work with NUAZ to provide education and treatment services for the prevention of diabetes and associated disease processes in offshore environments.
NUAZ has developed a network of medical professionals across a broad spectrum of disciplines inclusive of hospital architecture, hospital management, nursing and allied health education providers.
Reference Checks
NUAZ is happy to provide both written and phone references from health providers, international medical referrers and clients.
